Treatment

A normal day for T (Troy) and Ash at university, surrounded by their friends, the popular couple walk through campus. Not so popular Kenny, sits alone in the school canteen eating his lunch. Ash decides to go home and finish her assignment.

Leaving everyone behind, she makes her way to her car parked in the university. Little does she know she was being followed to her car... unbeknown to the audience it's Kenny, hooded up to be mysterious, to hide his identity to the audience.

Flashes appearing from the corner indicate that Kenny is taking pictures of Ash without her knowing. Having developed the pictures, Kenny takes them to his accommodation which he shares with Ash's boyfriend T. In his own room, Kenny cuts Ash's pictures and sticks them into his diary.

T is trying to look for his football in his accommodation room. He then goes to Kenny room as he finds a book lying around. He opens Kenny's Diary and finds out there are photos of his girlfriend Ash in every page of the book.

T starts to go mad and tries to fight with Kenny. He fights with Kenny on the school campus beating Kenny up but Ash stops the fight not knowing what it is about. T keeps it a secret as he doesn't wants her to know.

T goes up the headmaster demands them to switch rooms because of Kenny obsession. But the headmaster can only make that happen in two days time. So T decides to take a break with his girlfriend to go camping for the weekend.

T then takes off with Ash in the car and goes off to the forest to camp. As they get out the car and starts to camp, Kenny reappears and has followed them to the forest.

Kenny's objective is to kill Troy at his moment. Kenny gives Troy a threat with a text message, Troy is afraid but he starts to negotiate with Kenny as T is willing to give up Ash. Ash finds the phone and sees the messages about the situation Kenny. So Ash starts a massive argument with Troy and runs off from each other.

Ash is lost but doesn't care because she is mixed with emotions. Ash is now confronted by Kenny. Ash has an idea that the only way she was going to make it out alive is by killing both Kenny and Troy. So Ash has another idea that if she gets Kenny to think that she loves him then she can kill him off.

Troy is all alone doesn't know what is happening in the dark. Troy get captured and as he gains conciseness he finds out Kenny captured him. Ash comes out of the bushes leaving Troy shocked but Ash isn't going to save Troy, she is helping Kenny kill Troy and Troy is killed by Ash.

Kenny has now got the chance he has been waiting for to get with Ash. Ash then seduces Kenny to go in the Tent. While they are in the tent Kenny eyes are bleeding just about he is about to kiss Ash but Ash terrified but carries on. Ash kills (stabs) Kenny in the tent. Ash thinks she had killed Kenny and start to walk off but Kenny Crawls out in dying need with his eyes flooding with blood and then dies in the forest.

  1. This treatment contains some good ideas. I think the overall structure will work well.

My concern is that this sounds more like a thriller at the moment and you need to make sure that you include enough 'horror' so that the film is scary.

The characters will need to terrorise each other in the forest. You need to play on their fears, psychological hang ups, ideas about surveillance to make your film SCARY!

Make sure that your story board contains a full range of different shot types. Refer back to the 'grammar of cinema' handout from your chase sequence last year to review all the cinematic tools at your disposal. DO NOT zoom in and out all the time when you film. Zoom is a technique used only VERY sparingly in professional film-making. Overuse, or any use of this technique may make your film look amateur!
